Estate Based Projects

Creative project work with young people and communities living on inner city estates across London. Exploring the use for creativity as a tool for young people to communicate and demonstrate their ideas and talents.

This work spanned a total of 6 years working in partnership with Catalyst Housing, Ealing Family Housing and Dominion Housing Associations. Using models and techniques developed with Children in Care in Hampshire, Claire developed large-scale projects spanning multiple inner city estates. These projects demonstrated the efficiency of film, theatre and creative forms of engagement, consultation and empowerment. They set a precedent for ongoing work delivered by the Community Development Teams of the Housing Teams, who continue to use these models and techniques.

What our client had to say

"Claire worked within the Community Development Team at Catalyst for two years. Her job title was Community Development Officer, but she exceeded this in terms of her contribution. Claire's intelligence and original ideas shone through her work. She developed innovative and unique ways of involving even the most marginalised and hard to reach groups of young people. Her projects were exciting, fun to be involved with and inspired other team members. She not only developed youth participation in Catalyst with impressive results, but was also able to produce video, artwork and involvement tools, which were original and insightful. After Claire left Catalyst, we continued to employ her on a consultancy basis to work on discreet stand alone projects and I would highly recommend every aspect of her work. She brings experience, skill, originality and value for money to everything she is involved with."
