Performing Places

Professor Sally Mackey (RSSCD) was awarded nearly £200,000 for ‘Performing Places Bexley’. MashUp! Productions was a key creative partner/consultant within the project from the design to the delivery stages. This project spanned 2 years, engaged thousands of participants, produced over 70 workshops, staged huge spectacles in the heart of Bexley Town Centre and delivered intensive week-long street-based activities each year. Claire/MashUp! co-wrote the theatre narrative, co designed the workshops, toured with and performed within the workshops, trained and supervised large student groups, designed the street-based activities, built and designed the in-world website, produced video content to support the project, provided practitioners and specialists to support the project.

What our client had to say

"Claire was a key creative force on Performing Places Bexley, 2017-2019. Her ideas were inspirational and led to some ground-breaking work on Bexleyheath Broadway. Passers-by, young people and adults, collaborated on a number of place-based street activities which she had devised and sourced. She was in role in schools workshops (as well as helping devise them) and in the street and was probably the best facilitator-in-role I have worked with. With tireless energy and quick wit, she was a powerful and enabling force throughout this project. In addition, she was an excellent role model and ‘teacher’ for the hundreds of drama students involved with the project."
